The watercolor of Chief Wolf Rope depicts a Native American Indian of the Southern Cheyenne Nation. He was born in New Mexico Territory between 1838 and 1841 and died in Oklahoma in 1910. He attended the University of Chicago and operated various art galleries in Oklahoma. He was the holder of the Benjamin Harrison Peace Medal which he proudly carries on his chest. This painting depicts him in the traditional beige buckskin coat with fringes, a fur scarf, a silk tie, and a red ribbon that holds the medal. He has two grey and white plumes in his hair. His rifle is safely at his side. He was a painter and a jewelry designer by trade. This watercolor is based on a photograph by either F.A. Reinhart dated 1898 or by Delancey Gill dated 1909.

Loving your series of these extraordinary, distinguished looking American Indian Chiefs! To paint with such detail is mind blowing to me. The expression on his face, so powerful and filled with great personality, I cannot compliment you enough. His beautiful garb so intricately created and painted, with perfect coloring. I just cannot get over the detail! Truly you are a master painter, and I so love you are paying tribute to those who are so deserving. From a culture that I only wish we learned from and respected with all our hearts.
